Geriatric

There are around 50 different types of dementia. It is estimated that approximately 10% of all people over the age of 65 are afflicted with cognitive impairment severe enough to be diagnosed as dementia. According to Muriel Lezak (2004), about half are of the Alzheimer’s type (DAT), 20% are Vascular Dementia, and the remaining 30% are either of mixed or different origins.

Keeping our elderly patients comfortable leads to better testing outcomes. Geriatric evaluations can be performed in the patient’s home or physician’s office, eliminating the anxiety of driving in unfamiliar environments or for long distances, or for the need to arrange for transportation if the individual is no longer able to drive.
